Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 2, 2026 · Last updated: May 2, 2026

Short version: ChoreMate uses Sign in with Apple (iOS) and Sign in with Google (Android) and stores your household data securely in the cloud so both partners stay in sync. We do not sell your data, show ads, or share your information with anyone. You can delete your account and all data at any time directly from the app.

1. Who we are

ChoreMate is developed and maintained by Vibhu Sharma ("we", "us", or "our"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at appchoremate@gmail.com.

2. What data we collect and why

Account information (via Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google)

On iOS, Apple authenticates you and provides a unique user identifier. You may optionally share your name and email address — Apple also offers a private relay option that hides your real email. On Android, Google authenticates you and provides your Google account name and email address. We use this information solely to identify your account and link it to your household.

Household and chore data

Everything you enter into the app — household name, partner names and nicknames, chore titles, schedules, categories, completion history, star counts, and rewards — is stored in the cloud so both partners see the same state in real time. This data is associated with your account.

What we do not collect

3. How we store your data

ChoreMate uses Google Firebase (Firestore) to store household data and Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in. Your data is stored on Google's servers and is protected by household-scoped security rules — only members of your household can read or write your household's data.

Google's privacy practices apply to data stored on Firebase infrastructure. You can review Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Unlike the previous version of ChoreMate (V1), your data is no longer stored only on your device. Deleting the app does not delete your household data from our servers. To permanently delete your account, use the Delete account option in Settings, or email appchoremate@gmail.com.

4. How we use your data

We use the data you provide solely to operate the app:

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

5. Notifications

If you enable reminders, ChoreMate schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated on-device and do not involve sending any data to our servers. You can disable notifications at any time in your iPhone's Settings.

6. Third-party services

ChoreMate uses the following third-party services:

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or crash reporting services.

7. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties, except as required to operate the services listed above (Apple, Google Firebase). We will never sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.

8. Data retention and deletion

Your household data remains on our servers for as long as your account is active. Signing out of the app does not delete your data — it only signs you out of the current device. Your household data remains accessible when you sign back in.

8a. How to delete your account

You can delete your account directly from within the app:

1. Open ChoreMate and go to the Settings tab (bottom navigation bar).
2. Scroll down to the Account section.
3. Tap Delete account.
4. Confirm when prompted.

This will immediately remove you from your household and permanently delete your Firebase account. The following data is deleted: your user account, your association with the household, and your personal profile. Shared household data (chores, history, rewards) may be retained if other household members remain active.

If you also want your shared household data deleted, email us at appchoremate@gmail.com after deleting your account and we will delete the full household within 30 days.

9. Children's privacy

ChoreMate is a household task management tool intended for adults and families. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

To exercise any of these rights, email appchoremate@gmail.com.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and notify users through an in-app notice or app update. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
